Kentucky Fried Chicken's Biscuits Recipe

I saw this recipe for KFC's biscuits on my Facebook news feed. And if anyone knows me at all, I absolutely love their biscuits! They're so warm, soft, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. So you can bet your bottom I will be making these maybe tonight or in the following week.

 Makes about 9 biscuits.

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups, flour

1 1/2 tsp, salt

1 Tbsp, sugar

1 Tbsp, baking powder

2/3 cup, milk

1/3 cup, vegetable shortening

Directions:

Preheat oven to 425°

 Sift together flour, salt, sugar and baking powder into mixing bowl.

Make a well in the flour mix and add the milk.

Add shortening and begin kneading with hands {[to cut in]} the vegetable shortening and flour in the milk until thoroughly mixed.
Add milk, if needed to form, and mix.
Turn onto floured board, and knead gently 6 to 8 times.
Pat dough to 1/2-inch thickness.
Cut into biscuits.
Place on baking sheet and brown in oven 10-13 minutes.

Today {[3/31/13]} is these handsome boys' first Easter! (Harper's 3rd, just in case you were wondering.)

I don't believe in lying to my children and telling them "The Easter Bunny" brought them this and that. That's not what Easter is about. So there was no surprise gift visit from a creepy rabbit, no.

I instead downloaded some educational and meaningful kid movies for everyone.

Veggie Tales: 'Twas the Night Before Easter.

It was a really cute movie, actually. I grew up watching the Veggie Tales movies with my family on Sundays for FHE (family home evening.) What no better way to easily share gospel stories to my children than through talking vegetables!

The other movie item I downloaded was mainly for Harper since she LOVES Dora the Explorer.

It took me awhile to find the Easter episode, but it was worth it.

Happy Birthday To My Favorite Husband!

Today {[3/28/13]} is Chris' birthday and the kids had a blast coloring a banner sign we made for him. So much fun that they ended up giving the kitchen floor a splash of color. Haha, oops! Good thing it was only crayon.
 

I think it turned out beautiful. Daddy will definitely love it when he sees it tonight!
 

My surprise to my handsome husband on his special day is his favorite meal AND dessert; Chinese food {[orange chicken}] and mint chocolate chip ice cream. Yum!

A Fresh, New Start

Wow. This blog has not been accessed in years. I am not kidding. As you probably noticed by the few previous posts here, here, and here, they are dated two-thousand and nine! Just before I moved, met, and married my darling husband.

It's great to re-read past posts though. It helps me remember the person I used to be. Yes, I have changed dramatically since eloping and having three gorgeous babies!

But I wouldn't change anything. A lot has happened, good and bad, but I have learned from every mistake I've made and every success I've succeeded at.

So here's to the new-old blog of Jen Humphrey. Cheers!
